The African Climate Foundation (ACF) is seeking a specialist writer to join its research and programme division in support of its programmatic work, providing high-quality writing to amplify its programme areas.

The specialist writer will support the research and senior management team, as well as work alongside the communications coordinator where necessary.

The ACF is the first African led strategic climate change grant-making foundation on the continent, established to provide a mechanism through which philanthropies can contribute to Africa’s efforts to address climate change.

Closing date: 08 July 2022

Location: Cape Town, South Africa (remote working would be considered)


  1. Relevant degree in journalism, communications or related fields.
  2. At least 2 years relevant work experience
  3. Strong reading skills – with the ability to research technical and complex subject matters relating to Africa’s climate change or development.
  4. Familiarity and overall interest in climate change, geopolitics, energy transition or agriculture will be an advantage.
  5. Demonstrated first class writing skills with the ability to create high-quality, thought-provoking content for both a specialist and wider audience.
