Rest of World is looking for an experienced editor to join the team as Features Editor to work on award-winning long form stories and enterprise projects.
The ideal candidate will be able to work with in-house and freelance reporters from around the world to find, assign, and edit some of Rest of World’s most ambitious work.
The editor will have an acute curiosity about technology, social media platforms, startup ecosystems, e-commerce, the gig economy, and the people involved.
Rest of World is an international journalism publication that’s focused on exploring the impact of technology beyond the Western bubble. Rest of World goal is to surface and showcase the often surprising and unintended effects of tech in places that get little attention from mainstream global news outlets.

Location: Remote, Worldwide
Remuneration: Competitive salary (with a raise, promotion and merit bonus framework based on performance and tenure)
Responsibilities
This role will work alongside the Features Director to:
1. Assign, manage, and edit the work of contributors across regions
2. Build a pipeline of feature stories that fit Rest of World’s themes and ensure a steady cadence.
3. Coordinate with contributors, our photo editor and product/projects team to make sure stories are visually rich and immersive.
4. Conceptualize and edit ambitious multimedia projects on core issues and themes Rest of World covers, helping identify trends and connect dots beyond particular countries or regions.
Requirements
1. 5+ years experience in editing, including some experience in editing feature-length/longform stories.
2. Experience covering or editing business or tech stories preferred.
3. A track record of producing feature-style longform stories, company and individual profiles, and investigations.
4. Ability to think beyond text-driven stories.
5. A strong work ethic, flexibility with startup conditions, a motivated self-starter.
5. Collaborative, enjoys working in teams with different disciplines and learning from others.
