The SolutionsPaper

The SolutionsPaper is pleased to announce that it has revamped its website. We have made major changes, including a cleaner design, easier navigation, and more informative content. Our newly organized website now features specific areas of focus, which will allow our readers to find the type of stories they love to read and get the information they want. The focus areas include:

  • Community Driven Responses: This includes stories shaped by people and for people, created with the needs and interests of communities in mind. This also allows our writers to submit their own stories and content to reflect the specific problems and unique responses within communities.
  • Election and Tech: Which focuses on how technology could be a viable response to problem faced during elections. The goal is to provide in-depth, nuanced coverage of these topics, with a focus on how they impact the lives of ordinary people.
  • Wildlife, Environment and Climate: This includes stories on wildlife conservation, climate change, renewable energy, and other environmental-focused solutions. It features innovative solutions to environmental challenges, as well as interviews with experts and activists working on these issues.
  • Ethnic and Religious Extremism: This area explores the causes and consequences of religious and ethnic violence around the continent and how communitites are staying resilient to them. This focuses on the strategies being used to counter violence, peacebuilding efforts and how effective they are.

We are also happy to tell you that we will begin sending out a monthly newsletter to all our readers to provide you with regular updates on our work and to share stories and information that you’ll find interesting and useful. Please sign up here.

Last but not least, we present to you a new initiative, The Freelancer’s House, to support and connect freelance journalists across Nigeria.

The Freelancer’s House will offer a variety of resources; a library of pitch examples from real journalists; templates and tips for writing effective pitches; and a community of peers who can offer guidance and support. We want to create a thriving community of freelancers who can support and learn from each other. Through a Substack page, freelance journalists will receive updates on new content, media opportunities, and resources.

Our primary mission at The SolutionsPaper is to tell stories of resilience, objectively, and how organisations, communities and even individuals are solving and finding answers to problems that are plaguing communities throughout Africa.
